The long, hot, holiday weekend has arrived. Yeah! But if you need a break from all that fun in the sun – here are some fun ways you can beat the heat:
1. Plan an Evening of Stargazing
First things first, check the weather (we like using NOAA) to ensure the sky will be clear. Next, find a dark location that is open to the public at night and will be free of light pollution. We recommend downloading an app such a Night Sky (they offer a free trial) to find stars, constellations and more. Pack binoculars, bug spray, blankets, snacks and hit the road.
2. Support Your Local Coffee Shop
Visit your local coffee shop to order an iced beverage. Bonus if there's AC there as well.
3. Hike to a nearby Lake, Waterfall, River or Glacier
We like to use resources such as All Trails, Gaia and Hiking Project to identify hikes using distance, location and feature filters. When planning your hike remember to check the weather, review local park ordinances, pack extra sun protection and hydration, and go early before the peak hours of heat. 4. Visit your Local Exploratorium or Science Museum
Spend an afternoon immersing yourself in science at your local museum. Before visiting, check hours of operation and safety guidelines.
5. Plan your Fall Adventures and Browse our Labor Day Sale
It's a Holiday weekend which means there are online sales, including ours - save up to 50% off site wide.
